Steak with Cream of Mushroom Sauce

I think this is the recipe I have made the most, mainly because it’s so easy to put together and yields so much flavor. I remember the first time I took a bite of this absolute creamy heaven was one summer evening on Ramadan, when my aunt blessed us with a touch of her cooking.

With a hint of curry powder and a splash of seven spices, we have the perfect cream of mushroom sauce that can be accompanied with a nice, juicy pan-fried steak. I like to eat this meal with a side of mash and some stir-fried veggies – but the sides are up for you to be creative with!

Feel free to check out my sides for more recipes of different sides you could use instead. You could also include sides such as fries, rice, sweet corn, etc. The world is your oyster! 😉

What are the “Seven Spices”?

Arabic seven spice blend is the third blend in my herb and spice blend series. It is used heavily in the Levantine cuisine, particularly in Syrian and Lebanese recipes. As the name implies, there are 7 spices that make up this blend and give it its signature flavor that is used to add an irresistible middle eastern touch to soups, tomato sauces, rice pilafs, and couscous. You can also use it as a rub for meat and chicken…”
